WE ARE excited to welcome you to campus!
The move-in experience is meant to be simple and stress-free, and actually starts before you arrive on campus. Please review the move-in information pertaining to what to pack/leave behind, driving directions, where to check in, and so much more! Remember to dress comfortably and bring some water. Be prepared for inclement weather, it's been known to rain during Arrival.

Packing Information
Get packed! Learn about what is available in your room, what to pack, and what to leave at home.
What to Pack
- Baskets for toiletries and storage
- Cleaning supplies and paper towels
- Computer, printer, and cables
- Desk lamp, desk supplies
- Fan (portable)
- Financial items (checking/savings account, credit/debit card, health insurance card, Social Security card, driver's license, etc.)
- First-Aid kit (band-aids, cotton balls, cotton swabs, cold/cough medicine, aspirin, thermometer)
- Food items (can opener, bottled beverages, coffee maker with automatic shutoff, one set of silverware/plates/bowls/glasses, snacks, dish detergent/towel)
- Games (cards, board games)
- Game consoles and cables
- Hangers
- Laundry bag/basket and detergent
- Padlocks for desk, laptop, and bike
- Room decorations^
- Sewing kit/safety pins
- Sheets, pillow, and blanket - for extra-long twin bed (80" x 36")
- Toiletry items

Please refer to the HFS Contract Terms, Conditions, and Regulations for more detailed information. Since only one vehicle per student is permitted to unload, be careful not to overpack.

Arrival Day
Here's what to expect on your Scheduled Move-In day.
Vehicle and Parking Information
- The student needs to be in the vehicle that is entering the unloading zone.
- Only ONE vehicle is permitted in the residence hall Unloading Zone for one trip only. Refer to Multiple Vehicles section if you have more than one car or need to make multiple trips.
- Navigate to your designated residence hall Unloading Zone on your mobile device. You have 30-minutes to unload your vehicle while in the Unloading Zone. Hazard lights must be turned on while unloading.
- Upon entry to the Unloading Zone, you will be instructed to use the "unloading timer" feature in eLiving to add your vehicle information and start your 30-minute unloading session.
- After unloading, your vehicle must be moved to the Jordan East Parking Lot.
- Large vehicles/U-Hauls/trailers/RVs are NOT permitted in the residence hall Unloading Zone, as there areas are limited and do not provide enough clearance to maneuver large vehicles into spaces. With the vehicle and pedestrian congestion in the residence hall areas, large vehicles simply cannot be accommodated for safety reasons. These types of vehicles must remain at Jordan East Parking Lot.
- If you will be using an Uber or Lyft, or will be dropped off without needing to unload, please have the driver follow the same directions to the appropriate Unloading Zone. Parking staff will allow the vehicle to enter, drop off, and exit.
- Students who have purchased a summer parking permit for the lots near Eastview Terrace are able to park their car in this lot starting on Monday, the day after check-in.
Multiple Vehicles
Only ONE vehicle is permitted in the residence hall Unloading Zone for one trip only during peak arrival times (9 a.m. - 6 p.m.). The student needs to be in the vehicle that is entering the unloading zone.
If you have multiple vehicles to unload, please park the second vehicle at the Jordan East Parking Lot, fill the first vehicle with items and passengers can walk or use the shuttle to the housing area.
If you need to make a return trip after shopping to unload, please park the vehicle at the Jordan East Parking Lot Enter the unloading zone after 6 p.m. You will need to reactive the unloading timer for 30 minutes.
Vehicle Unloading Zones
Using your mobile device, select your residence hall name to use Google Maps*, then click "Directions" and/or "Start" for navigation to your designated residence hall Unloading Zone. Once you reach the unloading zone entry, staff will be on site to direct you to the appropriate location to unload your vehicle.

Housing Check-In
Eastview Terrace features digital access to individual rooms! Instead of physical metal keys, students will use their mobile id+ card to gain access to their assigned building and room. An added feature is that students can utilize the Self-Check-In feature in eLiving, eliminating the need to stop at any location to check in!
If any assistance is required, stop by the Redifer Commons Desk Operation, which is open 24 hours a day.
Self-Check-In Process Overview
Follow these steps for a smooth Arrival:
Schedule Move-In for your planned arrival date/time. You MUST have a Schedule Move-In appointment for the self-check-in feature to work properly.
When you arrive to campus, proceed to your designated residence hall Unloading Zone at your Scheduled Move-In time. Only ONE vehicle is permitted in the residence hall Unloading Zone for one trip only. If you have multiple cars, you will need to park the second car at the Jordan East Parking Lot. Fill the first vehicle with items and passengers can walk to the housing area.
Before entering Unloading Zone, complete the Self-Check-In in eLiving. This step will download your building clearance, assigned room, clearance and Campus Meal Plan to your mobile id+ card.
Upon entry to Unloading Zone, follow instructions to activate the 30-minute unloading timer; turn on vehicle hazard lights.
Proceed to your room - follow the Using Digital Locks instructions for using the room door reader.
Complete the unloading of your vehicle within 30 minutes.
Move vehicle to long-term parking at Jordan East Parking Lot.

If you see something, say something. University Police are available by calling 814-863-1111.

Residence Life staff include student and professional staff members who live in the community and are available 24/7 to provide information and resources, offer help and support, plan social and educational activities, and address residents' concerns.
